NEWSPRING - POWEDERSVILLE CAMPUS
MARYS House provides new, unused clothing (sizes Extra-Small to 3X) to victims of domestic violence. We always need flip-flops, socks, underwear, sports bras, sweat shirts, t-shirts, and pajama pants. In addition, bus passes, gas cards, and gift cards are greatly needed.
MARYS House provides meals for our victims who stay in our shelters as well as give assistant to those who are transitioning to independent living. We always need pasta noodles and sauces, breakfast cereals, fresh fruits and vegetables, fruit juices, flour, cornmeal, sugar and spices. We also need other supplies such as toilet paper, paper towels, tissues, laundry detergent, dish detergent and all purpose cleaners.
Faith Over Fear: This annual events is a sit down dinner, guest speaker, guest musicians and offers raffle items. Volunteers can be used to help plan the event as well as to help the day of the event. This is a great event for families and large groups. The event is held in the month May.
Silent Auction: Each October a local venue hosts a dinner to raise money for our organization and allows us to put on a silent auction at the event. Volunteers can help solicit new items to be auctioned off and may help with the sale of event tickets. We use volunteers on the day of the event to pass out programs and information about the organization as well as assist with the silent action.
Holiday Assistance Program: Each year MARYS House works to provide Christmas presents to each of our clients and their families. We have several days and times that we will need the help of our volunteers to make this event a success. We need volunteers to contact local business, civic groups, churches and individuals who are willing to donate / provide gifts or the funds to purchase gifts. We also need volunteers to help sort and bag/wrap these gifts for us to give to our clients.
Group/Organization Projects: MARYS House welcomes business, social, or church organizations that have group project ideas and fundraising events. In the past we have hosted groups that have completed grounds beautification, interior and exterior painting, gift bags for clients, birthday boxes for children, art projects, and yard sales on MARYS House's behalf.
The "Truth for Life" group from Rock Springs Church in Easley, SC not only provides items for our pantry on a regular basis but they also volunteer their time to help us paint part of our administration building that was in need of renovations.
